The Refugee Art Exhibition at Hill House

  • Hill House Amberley, Stroud, GL5 5AL (map)

This exhibition of artworks by refugees, along with Sam Mukumba’s artwork and bread oven hand-built for SITE, celebrates the work we do and people we work with.

Refugee Week 2025 is serendipitously during Site Festival - a week-long celebration that highlights the contributions of refugees to society, culture, and the arts. It's a time to raise awareness, break down stereotypes, and encourage understanding and compassion for refugees - all of which we strive to do as Sanctuary Breaks at Hill House.

We welcome people seeking sanctuary to stay at Hill House with volunteers, and enjoy the space together. The artworks on display from visiting refugees offer visitors an insight into lived experiences, through storytelling and various mediums.

Exhibiting artists have been invited through our connections with GARAS and our Bristol networks, each with a unique perspective and lens - from all over the world.

Following our “Taste of Home” events where food is central to connection, we’re excited to host Sam Mukumba and the building of the bread oven, all during Refugee Week 2025.

Come and make bread with us.
