Painswick Rococo Garden Plein Air Exhibition is a collection of work by artists who have painted in the Garden during 2025/2026.
This has been as winning or highly commended participants in the annual Plein Air Competitions and/or as Artists in Residence. The Artists in Residence Group is made up of winning and highly commended Artists from the previous year who are asked to create seasonal artwork of the Garden.
Their work has captured; the follies for which the Garden is famous - particularly the iconic Exedra, the vibrancy of the Summer flora and woodlands, the Autumn colours as the valley turns from green to vibrant yellows, oranges and reds, the icy snow covering the sleeping Garden followed by the reawakening of the Garden with over 5 million snowdrops on display and then thousands of daffodils filling the orchard with a sea of yellow.
Artists use a variety of medium including oils, acrylics, printmaking & stained glass to capture the beauty & diversity of England’s only remaining Rococo Garden. Rococo was an 18th Century style encompassing fun, frivolity, opulence and asymmetry.
The exhibition offers all that and more.
Admission to the exhibition in the Bothy is free. Visitors can get 10% off admission to the Garden with a copy of the Site directory.
