Lorraine Robbins

Stroud Sensation showcases 12 Stroud-based artists whose sculptural practices incorporate bronze, ceramic, stone, glass, sound, feather, stitch and assemblage. This exhibition highlights the breadth and vitality of contemporary sculpture within the Stroud Valleys.

Daniel Chadwick’s work examines balance, tension, and harmony, inviting viewers to notice subtle shifts in form and shadow. Abigail Fallis transforms the ordinary into surprising statements that question value, waste, and authenticity. Kim Francis’s sensitive stonework imbues solid materials with life, while Nick Grellier assembles found objects into imaginative, characterful compositions. Rachel Howard casts ephemeral roadside shrines in bronze, giving permanence to fleeting memorials. Emily Lucas explores fabric’s tactile and narrative potential, layering and stitching cloth into richly textured works. James Merry creates intricate, nature-inspired jewellery drawing on flora and fauna. Polly Morgan reimagines taxidermy, combining preserved animals with unexpected materials to craft poetic and unsettling works. Colin Reid, collaborating with Rob Godman, merges glass textures with sound-derived images from Tout Quarry. Lorraine Robbins produces playful, expressive clay vessels with whimsical shapes and decoration. Alice Sheppard Fidler’s installations combine fabrics with solid elements to evoke memory and presence. George Taylor’s hand-placed feather wall panels blur sculpture and painting, creating rhythmic, luminous surfaces.
