Before starting his career as a curator at Arnolfini in 1974, Clive studied printmaking at Bath Academy and subsequently taught. This exhibition shows mostly unexhibited prints made by him in a variety of techniques, alongside a drawing by Michael Craig-Martin who taught him at Bath.

In future years, Clive plans to exhibit works from his family's collection, including work by Barry Flanagan and David Nash.

“After my foundation year, I studied visual communication with my main interest in printmaking. Bath then had some brilliant printmaking tutors: John Vince taught screenprinting, Ian Lawson and Harry Cliffe taught lithography, and Jack Shirreff taught etching. Following my BA, I went on to study printmaking at Brighton and became lecturer in printmaking at Derby College of Art.

Two other tutors at Bath were to have a big influence on my future career. The artist Michael Craig-Martin was sufficiently impressed with a photo-lithograph I made that he gave me one of his own drawings in an exchange. Jeremy Rees taught me type-setting and letterpress printing and later employed me as gallery curator at Arnolfini .

From Arnolfini, I went on to become director of Mostyn Art Gallery in Wales, manage a commercial gallery in London and curate exhibitions in the UK, Japan and Korea. I directed the Centre for Contemporary Art and the Natural Work from 1995-2020 and Jill and I moved to Stroud in 2014”.
