Punk-jazz in the Acoustic Ladyland
Thursday 11th June 8pm
Stroud Valleys Artspace
Saturday 20th June 9pm-3am
Stroud Valleys Artspace
Punk-jazz in the Acoustic Ladyland vein from musicians who have played with Portishead, Super Furry Animals and Roni Size. Their debut album 'All is Yes' won the coveted BBC Jazz Album of the Year last year and they went on to perform triumphant sets at Glastonbury and the Big Chill.
Mixing hard edged bass riffs, blasting horns, electronic trickery with massive drumming. An explosion of jazz from musicians of inarguable rock pedigree, all wrapped up in a rather unusual sense of humour. Their amazing new album 'Bugs in
the Amber' has just been released and available to buy at the festival. 'The grooves make your spine tingle'

Jade has a sublime collection of songs, both written and peformed by her. She feels the harp is so much more than a lyrical instrument; using mediaeval techniques with fingernails she transforms the harp into a rhythmic and percussive instrument. Jade started working with Graeme Owen, on double bass which has proved to be a very good match, both of instruments and styles. Working with double bass gives a strong groove to the harp.
