The Open Studios Exhibition brings together the artists inviting you into their homes, studios and workshops around Stroud giving an overview of the exciting art on offer. It is the perfect opportunity to plan a route around the valleys so you don’t have to miss a thing. New for this year is the public vote where you can support your favorite artists and show your support for the art in Stroud. A perfect way to start and end your tour of Stroud’s varied and inspired art community.

After a year of occupation in the newly refurbished building, designed by Tony Fretton Architects, SVA studio members will be opening their spaces to the public.Visitors will be encouraged to fully explore the studio working environment and to engage with artists in conversation
The Sculpture studio members have been working aongside each other, swapping spaces and collaborating on new projects. In the Textiles studio recent work in connection with the Studio Seven Textiles group will be shown. The painting studio members will be showing a range of work from the canvas to the screen and inviting other artists to join them.
This is a great opportunity to see what takes place at SVA and find out more about the future plans. There will be a month long programme of events at SVA during site08 with music, peformance, talks and screenings along with a cafe bar.

The site festival's first mobile Open Studio! Roving Studio rolls up and opens its doors on common ground as gallery, venue & workshop, This launch presents ‘The Art of Transition’, which explores the art & science of early projected & moving images using pedal, wind and solar powered contraptions. Textilers and artists will be fabricating a low-impact ‘extallation’ with allusions to shelter, local textile history & common land rights. Make simple animation strips and spin them to life in a zoetrope. Kaleidoscope your perspective on the land.
Transition Stroud is a network organisation for local groups who are working on the transition to a low carbon re-localised lifestyle. Exhibition of work from contributing artists including: Tara Downs, Laurie Gibbs, Jon Goss, Jessie Jowers, Isabel Lyster, Rose Liles, Oogoo Maia, Paul Saunders, Emily Smith and Sam Urquhart.
