Whatever words we use to describe various kinds of Visual Art - Painting, Drawing, Ceramics or Sculpture, I feel it’s important to remember they are all fundamentally visual phenomena and therefore our reactions are felt as much physically as intellectually. We can have perfectly significant and meaningful responses even if, and maybe because, not a single thought actually enters our heads.
With this in mind when you visit our studios, I hope you will feel that in our own way we have each found a degree of clarity and integrity, and that you will want to take this home with you.
I have lived and worked in the Stroud Valleys for thirty years now as a professional painter and teacher, and I really appreciate the way we all support each other and share in the joy and despair of trying to make the things we feel on the inside visible on the outside. In any case scenes of natural beauty will frequently reward you as you struggle to find some of the more far-flung venues!
